Engagements

Three ways to work together, each beginning in the same place.

The diagnostic comes first and decides what gets built. Everything after it is a consequence of what the analysis found.

The rule Why nothing starts with a brief

Every engagement begins with a Profile.

The diagnostic determines what is built. A founder who arrives certain about what they want is often the one for whom it changes the most, and that is why the step cannot be skipped.

The Profile credits in full toward an Edition or an Atelier commissioned within ninety days of delivery. Beginning here costs nothing to anyone who continues.

Profile

The diagnostic

The Instinct Aesthetic™ assessment, run for a founder or a leadership team, with a written analysis of what the result means for this business and the people it is trying to reach. The Profile is a designed object, printed and bound. A diagnosis that looks like a spreadsheet gets filed and forgotten.

The team version analyses several decision-makers together and shows where they pull against each other. That is often the real reason a brand has stalled.

  • The assessment
  • Written strategic analysis
  • Profile artifact
  • One working session
II

Edition

A profile-based identity

One of the twelve profiles, built out and personalized for a single business. Palette, type system, materials direction, applied examples, and the reasoning behind each decision.

Edition is possible because the system-level work is already done for all twelve profiles. Logotype development is scoped separately, since a business with a mark it already trusts should not have to pay for another one.

  • Everything in Profile
  • Palette and type system
  • Materials direction
  • Applied examples
  • Written rationale
III

Atelier

The full bespoke engagement

Diagnostic, strategy, naming where a business needs it, the complete visual identity, and the applied system that carries it into print, digital, packaging, environment, and photography direction.

Everything is built from the analysis rather than from a brief. That changes the sequence of the work and usually the outcome. I take four to six of these a year, which is a production constraint rather than a scarcity device.

  • Everything in Edition
  • Strategy and positioning
  • Naming, where needed
  • Logotype and marks
  • The applied system
  • Photography direction

Fit Who the work suits

I build from the inside out.

Every identity here starts with the person or the business underneath it and works outward to the palette, the type, and the surface. That order is the method, and it is why the diagnostic comes before anything gets designed.

The work suits a founder with runway who wants the thing built well before it is built quickly. A launch is welcome on those terms, and so is a rebrand, a repositioning, or a business that has grown past the identity it started with.

What it asks in return is a willingness to be contradicted. The diagnostic exists so that it can change the answer. If the decision is already made and what is wanted is execution, there are studios who will do that well and faster than I will.

  • A founder with runway
  • A business that has outgrown its identity
  • A launch that wants to be right before it is fast
  • A leadership team that cannot agree on what the brand should feel like
  • A business whose owner recognizes none of it in what they built
