Most people have a consistent aesthetic they are drawn to across every area of their life.
The spaces they want to be in, the images they save, the films they return to, the objects they keep. This is not random and it is not simply a matter of taste.
The Instinct Aesthetic™ is a research-backed framework that explains why. It maps three human instinctual drives onto distinct visual registers, each crossing four seasonal palettes to produce twelve aesthetic profiles.
This workshop is its first public teaching.
Three instincts. Four seasons. Twelve aesthetic profiles.
Most frameworks that explain aesthetic preference stop at color or personality type. The Instinct Aesthetic goes further. It identifies the instinctual drive beneath your aesthetic responses: the structure that determines not just which colors feel right, but which visual grammar, which spatial relationships, which level of contrast, which material quality consistently feels like yours.
The framework maps three instinctual drives onto three distinct aesthetic registers. Each register crosses four seasonal palettes, Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn, to produce twelve distinct aesthetic profiles.
If you are familiar with personal color analysis, the seasonal layer will feel immediately recognizable. The instinctual layer is what this framework adds: the dimension that seasonal color analysis alone does not reach.
The register of the Self-Preservation instinct. Grounded, tactile, materially rich. This register communicates through texture, warmth, and physical quality. It prioritizes the experience of inhabiting something over the experience of looking at it. It feels restorative and immediate.
The register of the Social instinct. Relational, context-aware, oriented toward collective experience. This register communicates through atmosphere and accessibility. It is designed to hold more than one person and to create a sense of shared space. It feels inclusive without being generic.
The register of the Sexual and Intensity instinct. High-contrast, charged, depth-seeking. This register communicates through tension and presence. It does not ask to be noticed. It commands attention. It feels transformative and singular.
This framework is empirically grounded.
The Instinct Aesthetic is not creative intuition formalized into a product. It emerged from an IRB-approved study conducted at the University of Oklahoma.
Across a sample of 167 participants, the framework demonstrated 76.7% overall concordance between instinctual drive and aesthetic preference. The Sensual register showed 97.9% concordance for Self-Preservation types. The Magnetic register showed 81% concordance for Sexual and Intensity types.
The finding is straightforward: people are not choosing their aesthetic preferences consciously. Those preferences are organized by the same instinctual structure that shapes everything else about how they experience the world. The Instinct Aesthetic gives that structure a name and a visual language.
Two hours. One framework. Twelve profiles.
This is a live two-hour session on Zoom. Twenty inaugural seats. It is structured to move from orientation through demonstration to self-identification.

01
Instinctual Orientation (15 minutes)
A brief introduction to the three instinctual drives at the foundation of the framework. No prior Enneagram knowledge required. Most people recognize their dominant instinct quickly. This section exists to give everyone in the room the same vocabulary before we move into the aesthetic layer.
-
02
The Seasonal Layer
An introduction to how the four seasonal palettes function as aesthetic registers, not just color systems. If you have had your colors done, you will recognize the seasonal logic immediately. This section shows how it extends beyond wardrobe and into every visual domain.

03
The Framework in Practice
The longest section of the workshop. We apply The Instinct Aesthetic to real cultural objects: brands, films, art, and designed spaces. You will see the diagnostic process working on things you already know and have opinions about. This is where the framework stops being theoretical and becomes something you can use immediately.
-
04
Self-Identification
A guided process for locating your own dominant register and seasonal profile. Not a quiz. A structured series of observations and responses that surfaces what you already instinctively know about your own aesthetic sensibility.

05
Q and A
Open conversation. Bring anything.

What Comes Next
A transparent overview of how The Instinct Aesthetic is applied in Zykr's brand diagnostic work, for anyone who wants the framework applied to their own brand or visual identity.
This workshop is for anyone who has a strong aesthetic sensibility and wants to understand its psychological structure.
You do not need a business, a brand, a design background, or any prior knowledge of the Enneagram. You need to be genuinely curious about why certain things feel right to you visually and others never will.
People drawn to the psychology of perception who want a more rigorous framework than personality type alone provides. People who work in or around visual fields: designers, artists, photographers, stylists, architects, interior designers, art directors, and writers who think visually.
Coaches, therapists, and practitioners who recognize the connection between psychological orientation and aesthetic preference in their clients and want a vocabulary for it. People who have done personal color analysis and found it meaningful but felt something was missing from the explanation. People who have a business or personal brand and have consistently felt that their visual identity does not quite represent them accurately.
You are looking for a step-by-step design tutorial.
You want templates or a deliverable you can implement the same day.
You have no interest in the psychology beneath aesthetic preference and only want a practical output.
