The Instinct Aesthetic workshop

Saturday, May 23rd 2026|Live on Zoom|20 Inaugural Seats

Your aesthetic instincts are not random.

They are not the product of good taste, cultural exposure, or an eye you happened to develop. They are the surface expression of something much older and more structural, the instinctual drive that organizes your entire way of moving through the world.

You already know this about yourself, in the way the body knows things before the mind names them. You walk into a room and something settles, or it does not. You encounter a brand and something in you leans in, or pulls back. You look at your own visual identity and feel, quietly and persistently, that something is almost right.

Almost is the word this workshop is built around.

The Framework

The Instinct Aesthetic

The Instinct Aesthetic is a proprietary framework developed over years of parallel work in Enneagram psychology and brand identity design. It maps the three human instinctual drives onto distinct aesthetic registers, each crossing four seasonal palettes to produce twelve visual identity profiles of unusual diagnostic precision.

If you have ever had your colors done, if the language of seasons and palettes already lives in your body a little, you will find that this work picks up exactly where personal color analysis leaves off, and takes it somewhere it has never been applied before.

Your season tells you something about your palette. Your instinct tells you something about your register. Together, they produce something with a diagnostic precision that neither framework reaches alone.

Sensual

The aesthetic language of the Self-Preservation instinct. Grounded, tactile, materially rich. Brands in this register communicate through texture, warmth, and the quality of things made to be touched and inhabited. They feel restorative. They feel like arriving somewhere.

Communal

The aesthetic language of the Social instinct. Relational, context-aware, oriented toward collective belonging. Brands in this register communicate through atmosphere, accessibility, and the intelligence of spaces that hold more than one person. They feel inclusive without being generic.

Magnetic

The aesthetic language of the Sexual and Intensity instinct. High-contrast, charged, depth-seeking. Brands in this register communicate through tension, presence, and the particular gravity of something that does not ask to be looked at. It commands attention. They feel transformative.

The Research

This is not creative intuition formalized into a product.

The Instinct Aesthetic emerged from an IRB-approved empirical study conducted at the University of Oklahoma. The findings are striking: across a sample of 167 participants, the framework demonstrated 76.7% overall concordance between instinctual drive and aesthetic preference, with particularly strong results in the Sensual register (97.9% concordance) and the Magnetic register (81% concordance).

In plain language: people are not choosing their aesthetic preferences consciously. Those preferences are already organized by the same instinctual structure that shapes everything else about how they experience the world.

Brand design that ignores this is building on guesswork. The Instinct Aesthetic builds on something that was already there.

The Workshop

Two hours. One framework. A completely different way of seeing.

This is a live two-hour session on Zoom, intimate by design, with twenty inaugural seats. It is rigorous, sensory, and built to leave you reading visual identity differently than you did when you arrived.

  1. 01

    A 15-Minute Instinctual Orientation

Before we move into the framework itself, we ground the room in the three instinctual drives at its foundation. This is not an Enneagram lecture. It is a brief, felt orientation to three fundamental ways of being human. Most people recognize themselves almost immediately.

  2. 02

    The Seasonal Layer

For those familiar with personal color analysis, the seasonal system will feel immediately recognizable. We show how that same seasonal logic maps onto brand identity and why the instinctual layer adds a dimension that personal color analysis alone does not reach.

  3. 03

    The Philosophical Premise

Why aesthetics are not random, not purely cultural, and not simply a matter of taste. This is the ground the entire framework stands on, and it matters that you feel the weight of it before we move into the system itself.

  4. 04

    The Research

The empirical findings presented accessibly, not academically. What the data actually reveals about the relationship between instinct and aesthetic response, and why it changes how we should think about brand identity entirely.

  5. 05

    The Framework in Action

Two live demonstrations of The Instinct Aesthetic applied to real brand work. You will see the system working, not just described. The diagnostic process made visible, step by step.

  6. 06

    Self-Identification and What Comes Next

A guided process for locating your own dominant register. And a transparent look at how The Instinct Aesthetic is applied in Zykr's brand diagnostic and studio work, for those who want to go further.

This Is For You If

You are a coach, therapist, practitioner, creative entrepreneur, or brand-adjacent professional who has ever looked at your visual identity and felt that quiet, persistent gap between what it communicates and who you actually are.

You may be fluent in Enneagram psychology, in which case what happens in this workshop will reframe something you already know in ways you did not expect. Or you may have never encountered the Enneagram at all, in which case the instinctual framework we introduce in the first fifteen minutes will likely feel like something you already knew and had not found language for yet.

If you have ever had your colors done and the language of seasons already lives in your body a little, you will find that this work picks up exactly where that left off.

What you do not need: a design background, Enneagram fluency, or any prior knowledge of brand strategy. What you do need: genuine curiosity about why you respond to visual work the way you do.

This Is Not For You If

You are looking for a step-by-step brand design course with templates and deliverables.

You want someone to build your brand identity during the session itself. That is what Zykr's studio services are for, and we will speak to those in the workshop.

You have no interest in the why behind visual work and simply want to be told what colors to use. The Instinct Aesthetic is a framework for understanding, not a prescription.

About the Facilitator

Dr. Sterlin L. Mosley

Sterlin L. Mosley, PhD is an Associate Professor of Human Relations at the University of Oklahoma and the founder and creative director of Zykr Brand Atelier, a boutique brand identity studio specializing in emotionally intelligent, seasonally-informed visual identities for creative, therapeutic, and hospitality brands.

He is also the founder of Empathy Architects, an Enneagram coaching and teacher certification organization with thousands of practitioners in its community. His work sits at the intersection of those two bodies of practice, a framework he calls The Instinct Aesthetic, which extends seasonal color psychology with Enneagram instinctual subtype theory to produce brand diagnoses of unusual precision and depth.

The Instinct Aesthetic workshop is the first public teaching of this framework.

Twenty seats. One date. The first public teaching of The Instinct Aesthetic.

This session will not be repeated in this format. The inaugural cohort is small by design, an intimate room for the first transmission of a framework years in the making.

The recording will exist. The live experience will not.
